You belong among the wildflowers dressed in Rodarte. This is the hope of the daughters of Tom Petty, Adria Petty and Annakim Violette in their partnership with Kate and Laura Mulleavy, founders of the epic fashion house Rodarte. Together the creative energy of the two families present Rodarte x Tom Petty Wildflowers Collection, a special limited-edition collection of high quality screen-printed casual style clothing celebrating the re-release of Tom Petty’s Americana masterpiece Wildflowers.
For the uninitiated, the collection may seem abstract or just random. For those who are familiar with Tom Petty’s canon, might have a deeper understanding of how Wildflowers managed to reach deep into our American soul, to place of simplicity and authenticity. And the Wildflowers Collection reflects this authentic journey of the American soul in a fun, vibrant line that includes exclusive t-shirts, sweatshirt hoodies/crewnecks and sweatpants. The artwork was created handmade by the mother of Kate and Laura, Victoria Mulleavy.
“This collection has that 60’s feeling our dad loved so much and it is incredible watching designers so good at their craft creating art inspired by our father’s music. It just feels like Wildflowers sounds,” notes Annakim Violette. Adria Petty explains, “This is a passion project inspired by my sister and it is a really loving tribute to our dad. We love this collection because it is joyful and is a great opportunity for us to give back to the emerging music community. Laura and Kate are our favorite designers so it’s exciting to see the world of Wildflowers interpreted through their eyes.”
Inspired to highlight a new generation of musicians the collaboration worked with photographer Daria Kobayashi Ritch to create a photoshoot with fresh artists of today who have been inspired by the music of Tom Petty. The photos feature Japanese Breakfast, Joanna Newsom, Kilo Kish, King Princess, Weyes Blood, TWEAKS, Arrow de Wilde, and Gabbriette wearing the Radarte x Tom Petty Wildflowers capsule collection.
