Tomorrow, The David Lynch Foundation will host a live, virtual concert and you are invited to join in the celebrations! Meditate America is a free concert event taking place Thursday, December 3 with planned headliners that include Kesha, Katy Perry, Sting, and Hugh Jackman! This seems like it’s just going to be a fine time and a little meditation is the perfect way to start out the month of December. The virtual event starts at 5pm MST.
The reason for this totally free event is actually quite amazing. All these great people are getting together in celebration to sing some songs and raise support to bring free Transcendental Meditation (TM) training to adults and children in need. During these times this also means the healthcare workers on the COVID-19 frontlines, veterans battling PTSD and depression, and families living in at-risk communities.
This form of silent, mantra based meditation is known to shift an active mind towards an experience of pure consciousness through awareness. There are hundreds of published research studies that have documented the benefits of Transcendental Meditation. With over six million people who have learned the TM technique and experienced this includes people of all ages, religions, and cultures.
The event starts at 7:00 pm. Scheduled performances include Graham Nash singing “Our House” with a children’s choir, Kesha and Jim James of My Morning Jacket will be singing the Bob Dylan classic, “I Shall Be Released” and Hugh Jackman will interview Katy Perry about her meditation practice.
The national initative Meditate America offers evidence-based Transcendental Meditation techniques to help address the pandemic of trauma and toxic stress in society. They aim to help those in the United States who are at-risk and vulnerable to stress and trauma. You can learn more by visiting meditateamerica.org
