Fashion and the Catholic Imagination Debuts At Met Fifth Avenue NYC

Opening day for the Costume Institute’s Spring 2018 Exhibition Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination was today in New York City. The exhibit is on view from May 10 through October 8, 2018 and The thematic exhibition of medieval masters of the art offer us a look into traditional Catholic fashion influenced by the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism.

“The Catholic imagination is rooted in and sustained by artistic practice, and fashion’s embrace of sacred images, objects, and customs continues the ever-evolving relationship between art and religion,” said Daniel H. Weiss, President and CEO of The Met.

The exhibition is made possible by Christine and Stephen A. Schwarzman, and Versace.

I was born in Dublin, and raised in New York where I was fortunate enough to eventually study fine art history and fashion, graduating from NYU. I worked in fashion marketing for small startups before doing a stint on the West Coast. And now I am in Utah. Avid skier and love the ocean.
