Cannes Lions 2018: A Look At The Festival Of Creativity

In a little less then 10 days, Cannes Lions is set to begin. Style Utah will be on the ground in Cannes, France for the festival events throughout the 5 days of the major marketing festival, starting from June 18th through June 22nd. Cannes Lions is THE festival for creatives, designed and the opportunity to celebrate the marketers of the major brands we love including those who work in marketing communications, building messages that touch our soul and always striving to advance the craftsmanship of marketing.

This year, the festival has plans to make the agenda focused more on the dedicated work of the brands and agencies and less on celebrity appearances from major super stars. In past year’s, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have dominated the stage and overshadowed the main stars of the festival, the creative marketing teams behind the brands.

In it’s 65th year, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has become the symbol of the customer’s journey in the branded experiences.
Award winning campaigns across multiple sectors and from mega brands such as Mars Inc, Uber, Burger King, Unilever, Google, WWE, Apple, Tommy Hilfiger, eBay, PepsiCo, KFC, Lego, American Express, Facebook.. Well, the list goes on and on.

Important Events of Cannes Lions

Stars from HBO’s two biggest shows will be present at Cannes Lions this year. This year, there is an announcement scheduled by Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, (Jaime Lannister,) regarding innovation in advertisement and conservation. Also, Westworld’s Thandie Newton, will be going to be on stage with the editor of British Vogue, HP’s CMO, and Omnicom’s chief diversity officer. Together, the group plans to explore the topics of diversity in business.

“Promoting, Protecting, and Entertaining in Untrusted Times” is an event that will take place with Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo and will be joined by Kirsty Wark and Richard Edelman. And last but not least, the Cannes Lions launches “Change for Good” hackathon will take place.

Companies and brands from all over the world will be in the French Riviera including India, Australia and China. With a total of nine tracks developed for the Cannes Lions, the festival can be a lot for one marketing professional to handle. The tracks this year include Communication, Craft, Entertainment, Experience, Good, Health, Impact, Reach and Innovation.

Cannes Lions Digital Pass

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity announced the launch of the Digital Pass as an initiative for 2018, designed to enable
access to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity from an online broadcast. The online broadcast will be available from 9.30am to 9.30pm each day, throughout the Festival dates and digital pass holders will have access to the catch-up content throughout the event dates. With plenty of amazing topic debates, game shows, and inspirational interactive sessions to access, this pass should be worth it’s $99.00.
