Today, in Cannes, France, at the Cannes Film Festival, premiers the only Italian film in competition, Il Traditore (The Traitor) by the maestro Marco Bellocchio, starring an all-star Italian cast including Luigi Lo Cascio, Maria Fernanda Candido, and Pierfrancesco Favino. The latter is at the moment the most likely candidate to steal the best actor award from Antonio Banderas.
In this biopic, from director Marco Bellocchio, Favino plays Tommaso Buscetta the so-called boss of the two worlds, the first traitor to the mafia, in Sicily 1980s. Il traditore tells about Buscetta’s love for life and women, his criminal life and murders, his revelations to the magistrate Giovanni Falcone and his life undercover.
