Luxury Fashion House Balenciaga was founded by the Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga in the year 1919 in the beautiful coastal city of San Sebastián, Spain. Cristobal Balenciaga was born in Getaria in the Basque region of Spain and he grew to prominence and made a name for himself by dressing Spanish royalty. When in 1937 Balenciaga opened their fashion house in Paris at 10 Avenue George V, the brands popularity quickly grew throughout Europe.
By the 1940’s, Balenciaga popularity had reached the other side of the pond and all the way to Hollywood, worn by famous movie stars such as Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Ginger Rogers and Carole Lombard.
