Australia Aims to Attract Americans With Dundee Reboot Campaign

It’s the perfect sell. Australia. And Travel Australia did just that by teaming up with Aussi superstar, Chris Hemsworth and Southern Boy Danny McBride to create an engaging moment that left an impact on the TV psyche during the Super Bowl LII. “Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home” began as most awesome Australian adventure comedies do. With amazing shots of Chris and actor Danny McBride decked out to the nines in khaki for their Outback adventures. The trailer quickly became something more.

An Australian All-Star Cast

The film’s cast is huge. And stars Danny McBride as Dundee and Australian actors Chris Hemsworth as his fellow mate with Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe playing a Newspaper CEO, Isla Fisher, Ruby Rose, Liam Hemsworth, Jessica Mauboy and Luke Bracey.

Tourism Australia is designed to create awesome campaigns and activities to attract business events and leisurely activities. And for some reason Crocodile Dundee tugs at the American’s heartstrings and has symbolized a part of Australia American’s can relate to. Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan was more to the point. “Crocodile Dundee put Australia on the map for Americans in the ’80s. The film helped shape their view of Australia, showing them Australia’s natural beauty and Australians’ friendly and welcoming nature. And it’s still relevant today, with our research showing that Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee is still a character Americans believe warmly represents the Australian way of life.”
