Last night, in New York City, celebrities and fashion icons came together to celebrate the Costume Institute Benefit, also known as the famous Met Gala. The major event acts as the Costume Institute’s main funding source for upcoming publications, exhibitions, and improvements to the institute and has traditionally brought together the best in fashion and celebrity.
This year, the evening event’s co-chairs included Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, and Alessandro Michele and was organized by Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, alongside Karen Van Godtsenhoven as the Associate Curator.
“Fashion is the most overt and enduring conduit of the camp aesthetic,” said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute. “Effectively illustrating Sontag’s Notes on ‘Camp,’ the exhibition will advance creative and critical dialogue about the ongoing and ever-evolving impact of camp on fashion.”
