The Emotional Delivery By Former NFL Player Esera Tuaolo’s

The openly gay NFL player Esera Tuaolo’s performance on NBC’s The Voice last night was an incredibly emotional delivery authentic and honest. With both his son and daughter by his side Esera performed Andra Day’s “Rise Up” to a connected crowd to the stars.

“When I finished in the NFL, I came out to my family. When I said those words for the first [time], when I said that I was gay, it was like this huge mountain just crumbled,” the former Minnesota Vikings player shared.

“I felt light as a feather, but when I jumped on the scale I was still that 6’4”, 300 pound Samoan that’s gay and played in the NFL.”

I was born in Dublin, and raised in New York where I was fortunate enough to eventually study fine art history and fashion, graduating from NYU. I worked in fashion marketing for small startups before doing a stint on the West Coast. And now I am in Utah. Avid skier and love the ocean.
